Pointing & Lime Pointing Services
Failing pointing is the single biggest cause of damp and spalling in older masonry. We repoint correctly — matching mortar, joint profile and finish to the age of the building.
What We Offer
Lime Pointing for Listed & Heritage Buildings
Standard Brick & Stone Repointing
Why Lime Mortar Matters on Older Buildings
Cement pointing on Victorian or earlier walls forces moisture out through the softer brick or stone face — causing spalling, frost damage and salt bloom. Lime lets the wall breathe as designed.
The Natural Next Step After Blast Cleaning
Clean the face, expose the joints, repoint properly — one visit, one scaffold, one contractor. It's how we work by default.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between lime pointing and standard cement pointing?
Lime mortar is breathable — it lets moisture move through the wall. Cement is impermeable and traps damp behind older masonry, causing spalling and salt damage. Anything pre-1919 should be lime.
Do listed buildings require lime mortar by law/consent?
In most cases yes. Listed building consent typically requires like-for-like mortar, which for pre-Victorian buildings means lime.
Can you repoint straight after blast cleaning in the same visit?
Yes — bundling clean and repoint is our default recommendation. Scaffold up once, save 20–30% versus two separate mobilisations.
