The Brief
Dressed cream sandstone west elevation with heavy biological growth and pollution staining. Faculty approval required. Conservation officer wanted a documented, non-abrasive method.
The Method
superheated steam at controlled temperature and pressure. Written method statement in front of the PCC within two working days of the initial enquiry.
The Result
Clean, even stone across the full elevation with the original chisel-tooled surface fully preserved. Signed off by the conservation officer without amendment.
